How Divine

Melbourne Fashion Festival‘s hump day runway highlight was Glam Up, a muster of the stuff of fashion dreams, operatic occasions and celebrity-peppered red carpets. And dishing the glamour for Voxfrock, a.k.a for YOU, rookie crew mentor and seasoned fashion photographer Chrissy Dore snapped the action backstage while mentee Theadora Violet, captured all the gorgeousness and gorgeosity of the Glam Up runway including its – surprisingly sophisticated – appearance by Julia Morris, host of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.

Then it was over to the kings and queens of uber couture, the sultans of sparkle and sweeping volumes: ALK BY LE’KAL BY ALIN LE KAL, ASIYAM, CAPPALLAZZO COUTURE, JASON GRECH, MARIAM SEDDIQ,
PAOLO SEBSASTIAN and PAUL McCANN.

THE VOXFROCK ROOKIE CREW

A mentoring programme for emerging fashion journalists and photographers run in Melbourne for ten years by veteran fashion editor Janice Breen Burns and legendary VogueAustralia shooter Monty Coles. Recently, Voxfrock graduate Chrissy Dore was also appointed as a third crew mentor.

The programme was joined to the FashLab mentoring project in 2023, a larger, evolving programme of initiatives assisting emerging and established fashion businesses in Melbourne.

Voxfrock and FashLab are extremely proud of their many rookie graduates who have forged stellar careers as writers, photographers, producers and fashion industry creatives. Among them, Andy Tran and Reannon Smith also crewed and were generously mentored in the arts of fashion photography by legendary veteran photographer Sonny Vandevelde.

Applications for the next intake of Voxfrock Rookies who will be coached through coverage of Melbourne Fashion Week 2024 as journalist/photographer crews, are now open. Graduates of photography, journalism and related creative tertiary courses can send a short bio and three examples of writing or photography to contact.fashlab@gmail.com with “Rookie Crew application” in the subject line.
