What do you get when the latest offerings from five so-hot-right-now labels are presented in the one show? Spots, leather, Lurex (among other things) and basically, a butt-kicking fashion squad. So it was at last night’s Runway 4 presented by Shop Til You Drop, featuring Alice McCall, Shakuhachi, Keepsake the Label, Akin by Ginger & Smart and White Suede.

A leggy gang of ‘team’ Alice McCall beauties opened the show in a refreshing medley of white-on-white ensembles; ridiculously cool and stamped with an ‘AMC Sport’ crest. Shakuhachi harnessed a cinematic palette from technicolour Hollywood Westerns; deep tan leather interspersed between dusty floral prints and long-line vests. “I really like the structure and wearability of Shakuhachi at the moment,” reflected Tiffany Newman of Divine Wanderer from the front row. “I always love their sense of innovation.”

Akin by Ginger & Smart (the label’s edgy diffusion line) was founded in urban street-wear: panelling and asymmetry in a flurry of bold, angular, black and grey co-ordinates. Spotted (and  flirtatious) shift dresses and culottes by Keepsake The Label lindy-hopped down the runway with as much ease of spirit as kiddies on a Sunday stroll. It was difficult to spot a frow-er who didn’t crack a smile!

White Suede rounded out the lineup with structured geometric silhouettes enlivened with pops of royal blue. Weighty overcoats were styled over mid-thigh minis and the much-loved pencil skirt was reinvigorated with peplum layering.

By all accounts, a formidable fashion squad. So far, the autumn-winter game appears strong. You in or out?
