Spring Vivid

Voxfrock Rookie photographer Reannon Smith and journalist Atusa Alexandra Moghaddam, capture the essence of Melbourne Fashion Week’s most vibrant show

Fashion serotonin. That’s what I am calling this show. After an epically long winter of rainy cold days, designers switched up the mood with colourful, joyous clothes.

Serotonin: a chemical produced in your brain that affects the way you feel; making you feel happier, calmer…”

Yummy sugared floral prints, energetic 1980s-esque power-dressing, 1990s-inspired silk slip dresses, asymmetric silhouettes with cut-out backs and tailored checked sets; all jewels.

C/Meo Collective‘s floral suit and hot red dress with extravagantly puffed sleeves (above) brought new meaning to what we know of everyday clothes.

Gorman maximalism (above) appeared in a mashup of rainbow colours and swirly patterns, bold and splashy print-on-print dresses, some asymmetrical silhouettes, tailored jumpsuits, and a two-piece checked suit teamed up with patterned shirt.

Misha collection (above) explored modern femininity with gentle silhouettes and shaped up sculptural garments which celebrated the female body and, with rigorous tailoring and uptight-cuts, created a new kind of chic.

Asilio, Keepsake the label (above) and Nicola Finetti (below, and main picture, top) sent the most refreshing, billowy outfits to the show including bold sequined dresses and a perfect duo of leather-lace crochet corset with appliqué tulle skirt in the queen of colors; red.
