VOXSHOTS (HOT FROCKY NEWS)

Good grief. It’s the fag-end of Thursday already. Time to pause our contemplation of Life’s Great Mysteries (ie: Why do Birkenstocks make those funny farty noises when you walk? Where do girls’ eyebrows go after 40? Why can’t I…?) and rustle up this week’s trilogy of frocky goss and news bits for your education and entertainment Dear Reader. Ready? Here we go..

GOOD WITCH (ERY)
We have banged on a bit about Witchery recently, yes? But, no, not because our Oi Oi Oi Aussie fashion brand policy overrides comparison with its competitors. Witchery, in Voxfrock’s opinion, is waging a frock-to-frock, trouser-to-trouser war on its mega-global-logo-high-street-chain competitors and winning with low-key, bulls-eye design values and accessible price points. Have a squiz at its winter offering: clean, well-thought-out pieces (the jumper, the leather biker, the laced bootlet, the flag trouser, the fur textured gilet….), no superfluousness or over-designosity. (Because we say it’s a word.)  The campaign was shot with Brazilian model Aline Weber whose scrubbed, natural beauty fits the collection’s back-beat of laid-back androgyny quite neatly, n’est pas? In the recent past, Miss Weber has also been tapped for the campaigns and runways of Balenciaga, Stella McCartney, St. Laurent and Dolce & Gabbana, among many others and, if her lovely dial does seem awfully familiar, you’re mentally pinging her acting debut in that marvellous film A Single Man, by Tom Ford a couple of years ago.

HEIDI KNICKERS
Myer has secured the Voxfrockers’ third all-time favorite freak of nature, Heidi Klum, for a real-deal-up-close-in-the-flesh public appearance outside its Melbourne store next Tuesday January 27. Are we beside ourselves? We most certainly are. Ms. Klum will fly to Myer for the launch of two eponymous lingerie collections (one for best, one for everyday) and one men’s undies range, all produced in partnership with Bendon. In an Intrigues R Us move, Myer also assigned its ambassador Kris Smith to interview Ms. Klum on, “the tricks to finding stylish lingerie that fits well with comfort and support”. Naturally, Voxfrock assumes Mr. Smith will grind down to the bedrock lingerie concerns of every woman: ie. back-fat, double-bosom-front-spillage, VN (visible nipples), and the merits of chicken fillet boosters. (Yes; kidding.) “I want women everywhere to feel sexy, empowered and confident in my collection,” Ms. Klum says, as she would.
The Heidi Klum Intimates, Heidi by Heidi Klum and HK MAN are buyable online at www.myer.com.au and will be racked in 31 stores nationally by the end of the month. See you at outside Myer Melbourne, Bourke Street Mall at 12.30 Tuesday.

HONEY, ZARA’S HOME!
And, speaking of mega-global-logo-high-street-chain competitors; Zara is fashioning its next significant Aussie move too. A ganormous 310 square metre homewares store is being banged into Melbourne’s Highpoint Shopping Centre (Rosamond Road, Maribyrnong) as we speak. The official opening is scheduled for February 12. Australia is Zara Home’s 60th country, bringing its total number of stores world wide to 437. That’s not counting its 2000-odd fashion stores in 88 markets including 13 in Australia. Nice coverage. Stand by for more on Highpoint’s debut Zara Home collection but, meantime this is an idea of the 3,500-strong professional design team’s commitment to decor trends. Products will include bedding, bath linens, furniture, tablewear, and a line of loungewear, with new drops every week, and a complete seasonal re-jig twice a year. www.zarahome.com
