THURSDAY VOX BULLETS

LITTLE. BLACK. FIT.

Voxfrock often fears fashion must be deaf. Or stupid. Why else, after decades of modern marketing and technological frockery, do so many grown women still gripe – loudly and often – that most fashion is made for colt-like, sex-obsessed teenagers with no backside or ladybumps to speak of? Why are their own womanly hills, valleys and D-cup undulations ignored so that shopping for frocks is invariably a depressing exercise in compromise? Hmmm?
It’s an oddity that recently prompted designer/manufacturer Amanda Watson to start up her own online boutique of logical, woman-friendly dress options. The LBD boutique is pitched at women of any age, shape and taste, particularly the tricky ones (ie: the majority), in the market for a basic black dress. Or several. And, aren’t we all. Ms. Watson’s virtual rack of smooth-touch transeasonal opaque jersey dresses is divvied into styles most flattering for various body-shapes. Prices vary from around $180 to $240 and construction, including minimal seams, blind hems and bra-strap loops where needed, across the pod collection aims for a smooth-fitted or elegantly draped silhouette. Voxfrock did notice a shortage of below-the-knee and mid-calf hemlines, but that may be addressed as these lengths get a proper grip in the Zeitgeist. In the meantime www.the-lbd.com is worth sharing to any perplexed owner of hills valleys and D-cup undulations in your orbit.
