We’ve hit the business end of Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival, Dear Ones, with its elbow-to-elbow thrillist of runways, workshops, seminars, exhibitions, fluff sessions and sundry kneezups. Yay. From this day forward until the last runway light winks out, click back for your personal grab-bag of runway reviews, insta-bits and stories by the Voxfrockers and this year’s crop of Voxfrock Rookie journalists and photographers.
Plus. (Plus plus.) Your regular dose of streetchic by our beloved guest Voxfrockers Estelle Michaelides and Kayla Piccolo starts here. They’re your relentless fashion hounds, prowling The Plaza (the swank precinct of gardens, bars and pop-up treats slung between the Royal Exhibition Buildings’ runway venue and Melbourne Museum) every evening for pic-worthy punters willing to tease out the reasons they wear what they wear and, for that matter, why we all wear what we do.
Today, Estelle herself (photographed above, by Kayla), starts the ball rolling with her own theory, one that underpins her most marvellously flambouyant fashion brand, Micky In The Van and one of the loveliest and quirkiest personal wardrobes on the planet: “Style,” Estelle says, “Is about wearing your authenticity, by being fearless and following your intuition. Never hesitate to be guided by your intuitive instinct for self expression, it will never fail you.”
