PICK YOUR FACE

A brace of new pretties pitched new lines of knickers and brassieres, the summer collections of a swank department store and a surf brand’s cheap-as-chips shorts at you, Dear Reader. Were you smitten? Voxfrock was.

Shortform: allow 4 minutes read time.

Main picture: Aren’t they gorgeous! Mambo faces Ashley Hart and Barbara Palvin ham it up on Venice Beach for Jason Lee Parry.

BUY MY KNICKERS
This is a pretty one. Better still, Riley Keough’s lovely face and trim little figure come with some seriously fancy psycho-backwash perfect for fancy knickers. Elvis Presley is her grandpa. Or, would be if he wasn’t  dead.
Bonds plucked Miss Keogh from a budding film career to launch its new Lacies knickers and brassiere sets later this month.

Family connections and that face have landed Miss Keogh modelling gigs for Dolce & Gabbana and Victoria’s Secret, a Vogue cover with mum Lisa Marie and grandma Priscilla, and movie roles in The Runaways and Mad Max: Fury Road. “At 24 years old, Riley is the perfect Bonds girl,” says design director Jane Newman. “A well known personality, with a promising Hollywood career, great personal style and attitude to match.”

And, a fascinating pedigree, popped into the media announcement, the pitch, and the imaginations of us all.

Bonds’ LACIES campaign kicks off in a week or so, with Elvis Presley’s grandaughter in a fetching collection of soft, stretch lace racer crops ($24.95), bikini and boyleg knickers ($14.95) and brassieres including a pushup.

SHOP MY FROCKS
Jessica Gomes swept into our lives, Camilla caftans flapping in her perfumed wake, down David Jones’ spring/summer catwalk last week. She is the store’s new face or, fashion ambassador for those who prefer the fancy titles, replacing modelmom Miranda Kerr, and even pipping at the catwalk post, Montana Cox who was earlier touted in that primary role.

Miss Gomes is the ideal psycho-socio-cultural trifecta of general market branding: an exotic product of cross-cultural parents, aged a stately 27 which is not to yuk-old and not too irritatingly young for a woman, and of proportions considered bombshell enough for several covers of Sports Illustrated’s infamous swimsuit issues, a host of B-glossies including American Glamour and Italian GQ, and advertising campaigns for Estee Lauder, Victoria’s Secret, DKNY, Levi’s, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

It is our job now, as modern, engaged consumers, to shop Jones for Gomes, if you get Voxfrock’s drift.

A good place to pledge allegiance, particularly for those Melburnians who missed the David Jones’ extravaganza in Sydney last week to launch spring/summer and Gomes, is outside the store’s Bourke Street Mall Women’s Store tomorrow (Wednesday, August 7) when she will appear with fellow ambassador Emma Freedman and a battalion of lesser models to illustrate and explain the new season’s key trends.

ROCK MY SHORTS
Iconic Aussie surf brand Mambo launched its summer campaign this week with two perfectly weighted packages of slenderness cheekiness sexiness awful-prettiness loveable girl-next-doorness and you-know-the-drillness, Barbara Palvin and Ashley Hart. Gorgeous, slender fund and young MAMBO-snappers that we all, naturally, would like to emulate or befriend.

Perfect faces. Miss Hart’s appeal was ramped up even more in the campaign blurb with her Australian heritage meaningfully converted to “quintessential Australian Beach Babe”. Miss Palvin’s recent campaign for Victoria’s Secret was leveraged as “International Model of the Moment”.

Are we impressed? You’re dang right we are! Recruiting Mambo-resonant cuties has evolved into an art and a semi-official Aussie “Goddess Club” of old Mambo faces is still mentioned in despatches for extra brand kudos including members Jodhi Meares, Jessica Hart, Jessica Gomes, Ashley Cheadle, Erin McNaught and Cheyenne Tozzi.

Mambo for Big W summer launched this week. A premium Mambo Goddess range will launch in surf stores and an e-commerce store to open in October 2013. Prices from $15 for shorts, $30 for bikinis.
Pictured, Miss Hart and Miss Palvin were photographed at Venice Beach by Jason Lee Parry.
