CULT FILM STARS SIMON PEGG AND NICK FROST AND DIRECTOR EDGAR WRIGHT are booked for red carpet duties at the Australian premiere of The World’s End, Tuesday July 16 in Melbourne. The film caps the trio’s Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy that began with Shaun of the Dead in 2004 and hit comic cult status with Hot Fuzz in 2007. The World’s End opens with an interrupted pub crawl by five school-leavers in 1990, and follows their ill fated attempts at an encore – hellishly twisted – 20 years later. Peggsters and Frosters should mark their spot behind the velvet ropes before 5.45 pm. Tuesday July 16 at Hoyts, Melbourne Central cinema complex and Shot Tower Square, corner Swanston and Latrobe Streets, Melbourne. A screening in Sydney is planned on July 17 however, details were unavailable at the time of posting. The film opens on general release, Thurday, July 19. www.theworldsendmovie.co.uk
ARTY CRAFTY UBER-MO-DERNE CULT HOMEWARES BRAND WEST ELM, owned by US brand cluster Williams Sonoma which also owns Pottery Barn, will open its first Melbourne store at 464 Chapel Street, South Yarra in September, at the same time it launches its first London store. “The cities of London and Melbourne have such vibrant communities centered around design and innovation,” explains West Elm president, Jim Brett. “I couldn’t think of two better locations for our next stores.” In fact, Mr. Brett thought of a better location earlier this year when he opened a West Elm store in Sydney’s Bondi Junction shopping centre, as well as a couple of other Williams Sonoma brand stores including a Pottery Barn. But, let’s not quibble. The West Elm aesthetic is chic, its production ethical, and customers are encouraged not to adopt a look, but use every purchase to adapt to their own style. www.westelm.com
AUTHOR ELLA ROGERS’ BOOK WORLD WIDE WARDROBE, is a global guide to shopping all categories of current season designer fashion (women’s, men’s, kids, maternity, et. al) for up to 80 per cent discounted prices. “After moving to Australia from the UK, I was surprised at the lack of variety and how expensive it was to buy clothing for myself and my family,” says the mother of three boys. “I wanted to continue to buy all the high street brands on offer overseas, but without the price tag, so I set out to research websites that will allow me to buy luxe fashion at affordable prices.” Available in bookstores, $19.95 and ebook versions on Apple and Amazon. www.worldwidewardrobe.com.au
