In Style Magazine’s 15th Birthday show, Runway 7, was a sizzling haute tribute to femininity. MacGraw flirted with a girlish, pared-back look; striped silks and sheer lace with a street wise film noir sensibility. Arthur Galan’s geometric genius; skewed lines and razor sharp cuts in red, yellow and cobalt blue, conjured visions of a modern day Alexis Carrington. Thurley played with striking contrasts: fluid handkerchief hemlines and graceful tunics in pale neutrals and whites. Trelise Cooper captivated with a strong collection of structural pieces in floral prints and surface embellishments. The bomber jacket with onyx beaded sleeves in particular; just divine! Never one to disappoint, red carpet favorite Aurelio Costarella titillated with a mix of strong black and white silk organza statement pieces, beaded body suits, wide resin belts and silver foil gowns. “I have created two exclusive prints for this collection,” Aurelio said, “Both are paintings…printed onto silk satin organza.” Finally, transporting us south of the border and into a kaleidoscope of Mexican folklore, Camilla delivered an array of glittering, embellished show-stoppers, cementing her place once again, as an accomplished fashion storyteller whose adventures never cease to amaze. “What a stunning collection” exclaimed Jewelchic’s Megan Castran “So many pieces I want to wear, it’s almost impossible to narrow it down!”
GQ Menswear Runway’s lineup – From Britten, Bassike, Vanishing Elephant, MJ Bale (main photo, top), Calibre and Arthur Galan AG – marched out looks for the chilliest of mountain ranges one moment, then in a flash, the swinging streets of London and the Blitz Club the next. For the hot-blooded (those of us who feel the heat year-round) relief arrived with a selection of stylish shorts by From Britten and Bassike.
This autumn-winter is the season of The Jacket and for us blokes, this essential wardrobe ingredient doesn’t only set the tone of a look, it can make or break it. Owning the several jackets for a variety of occasions is a good way to avoid being caught under or over dressed. Invest in a few staples (seen here), not forgetting classics such as the bomber and biker styles that can be kept on high rotation, you’ll reach your chill factor.
