KLEVER KUWAII
Report: Alexia Petsinis
“Designed-in-Melbourne” fashion brand Kuwaii has opened a flagship in Swanston Walk’s chicest heritage retail spot, Cathedral Arcade. Designed in collaboration with Melbourne architect and interior designer Imogen Pullar, the store features Kuwaii’s signature dreamy pastel palette, Danish lights and modern timber fittings distinguishing it from the moody, ornate interior of the city’s famous Nicholas Building.
“We’re really excited to be opening the store in conjunction with the launch of our new collection,” says Kristy Barber, Kuwaii’s designer. She has worked from her studio in the label’s thriving Brunswick store for six years. “We’ve had our eye on this space for quite a while, and the reality of opening this store has kept my creative juices flowing in so many ways.”
Kuwaii’s latest Spring/Summer 14/15 offering ‘Rationale’ is tactile and airy, soft pastel hues, modestly refined silhouettes and organic geometric prints fused in classic and modern forms redolent of the label’s new city address.
