Next week’s fashion trade show FASHION EXPOSED, March 10-13 at the Sydney Exhibition Centre, will host its 14th Debut runway and competition for emerging designers. Finalists in the apparel category are
Skye & Staghorn by Jessica Baxter and Dakota Gilbert of Western Australia and Zahir by Samantha Washer, also of Western Australia, Saucy Rose by Sally Cook of Queensland, Edition by Alice Sutton of the Australian Capital Territory, Rag Tag by Ali Pyrke of Tasmania and Oracles by Alexandra Kovac of Victoria. In the Debut accessory category, finalists Mikat by Katrina Wright of Victoria and Falconeddies by Darryl Manning of New South Wales. Prizes include a lookbook shoot, trophy and exhibition stand in the Premiere division of Fashion Exposed.

SPIRIT OF THE BLACK DRESS
The competition, to encourage creativity among emerging designers mindful of ethical and sustainable fashion is now in its fifth year and reportedly attracted a record number of entries for 2013. Spirit of the Black Dress is a component of the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival programme, March 18-23. Finalists’ visions of the Little Black Dress are being photographed as we speak, and are scheduled for presentation in a runway show and gala launch on Thursday, followed by a free public exhibition a the Intercontinental Hotel, Rialto on Collins Street, Melbourne, from March 18 to April

PENTHOUSE MOUSE
One of the most innovative and popular components of L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (www.LMFF.com.au), Penthouse Mouse, runway-to-rack shows, are up and running. Dozens of exciting designers, artists and performers are involved in Penthouse Mouse’s unique retail/runway experience, open to the public from Saturday March 9 to Wednesday March 13, from 11am to 5pm.

Midmouse Runway 1, March 15, 7.30 pm., at 17-23 Wills Street, Melbourne, will feature Autonomy, Leonard Street, The Social Studio, Ameca Calleja, RES Denim and Tightology.
Midmouse Runway 2, at 9.30 pm., features Raggatt, NEO DIA, Keegan, Christina Exie (pictured) and Jason Hewitt.
